From our hotel liaison... Our hotel for 2t0nic is the Grantham Ramada hotel, formerly known as the Grantham Marriott hotel. This is situated in Grantham (surprisingly enough) in Lincolnshire. This has good access by road (just off the A1), by rail (Grantham is on the East Coast main line from London Kings Cross), and air (East Midlands airport is only 37 miles away, and is a reasonably easy route by public transport). They enjoyed having us last time, and said so - apparently we are more interesting than their usual business conferences! There's a link to it on our website. Those who came to 1812Tone will be familiar with it, and there have been no structural changes since. (If anyone who was there has a couple of good photos that show the various rooms, and can email us links to them, we'll put those on the website as well.)

For those who were not there, have forgotten, or who drank too much real ale when they were there, we have a large 150-seater main room. There are four adjacent small board rooms that we will use for dealers, kids and as a green room. As before, we will relay a video feed from the main room to these rooms. In addition, we have a larger 50-seater room that can be used for additional programming if required, for workshops, for circles, and for practice purposes when not being used for anything else. Between them is a large lounge with a lot of seating area. The hotel has 86 rooms, so we will occupy just about all of it, which works very well.

Janet and Martin were both on the concom for 1812Tone, and they made careful note of the various comments people made about the hotel, and raised them with the hotel conference team. We have agreement on fixed price meals for both lunches and for Saturday evening. The real ale bar will be back, but in addition we've added a cider to it. Knowing that filkcons are thirsty places, and that soft drinks at bars are always expensive, we've also added a fruit cordial drink at the bar for 90p per pint, which should help that. And for those traveling a long way, we have a few rooms available on the Thursday night at con rates - please contact the committee if you would like one of those, but be aware these are really only for those who need them.

We were hoping to allow room bookings directly to the hotel, but for various reasons this has not been able to be set up, so we will be booking as usual via the committee. Either use this online hotel booking form, or the paper form in PR2. As mentioned, two people sharing a double room will pay £37.50 per person per night, and the supplement for single occupancy is £15 per night.

By train: Grantham station is on the direct line from London Kings Cross to Edinburgh, and the station is one mile from the hotel. By car: The hotel is signposted from the A1/A607 junction By air: The nearest airport is East Midlands, but the link from there to Grantham involves a bus and two trains.
