DecadenceThe Tenth British National Filk ConventionFebruary 6th-8th, 1998 |
And so another year goes by and another convention is over. Decadence was held at Eastbourne on the south coast of Britain at the start of February. Approximately 100 people turned up for all or part of the weekend, many songs were sung and much ale was drunk. The hotel proved friendly and we spread throughout the function space, giving plenty of room for impromptu jam sessions and circles. Both guests (Valerie Housden from the UK and Mitchell Burnside-Clapp from the US) were excellent and there was an incredible amount of energy going round. It was hard to leave on the Monday.
A few things were lost or found at the convention: a box of chocolates were found from the filk fund auction, and a bag containing badge-making components is missing. Also, five photographs (with negative and film numbers clearly written on the back) were lost. Please contact any committee member if you have any information about these.
