Committee

Mike Richards

Mike (Richards) has been coming along to conventions since Transept, and for much of that time has been known for playing the harp - or perhaps that should be for letting other people have "just a quick go" on his harp, Enwyn. He's intermittently helped run multiple  UK filk conventions from Decadence onwards, and has written a few songs that some people seem to like.

Pete Tyers (Hotel liaison)

Pete discovered science fiction whilst learning to read (or was it the other way round?). He discovered folk music when his father asked if he’d finished his homework and would he like to come down to the local folk club with him (where he noticed that no-one checked his age at the bar). Some years later he discovered that people sat round in convention basement bars late at night, singing folk songs (and not just Fred Wedlock’s). A while later he learnt it was called filk and there were filkcons. Despite having been involved with convention running since the ’79 Worldcon, he only got enmeshed in filkconrunning last year and that was only because he found the hotel and wanted to make sure it all happened. Despite hiding in the bar, sometimes life catches up with you.

Paul Bristow (Programming)

Paul Bristow began life as he was destined to continue it: Late, flustered and complaining loudly! (Though there are signs he is finally beginning to mellow... Still work to do on the punctuality, alas... =:o1 ) Thanks to the much-missed Miki Dennis he discovered filk, which he rather enjoys, including improvising workplace instafilks to amuse himself and annoy his colleagues. He has served on the multiple filkcon committees from as far back as Decadence (1998), and wonders how much longer he can keep getting away with it... =:oo

The mysterious Mary isn't on the committee, but is going to produce another songbook (assuming sufficient interest) - we got Kate's permission before she passed, and we'll reach out to Miki's sister as well.
